Introduction

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the International Organizing Committee, it is our pleasure to have you attend the 23rd Magnet Technology Conference being held in Boston at the Westin Copley Place in 2013 from July 14 – 19.

In the four decades since the MT conference began, we have witnessed enormous gains in both the performance and applications of permanent, resistive, pulsed, hybrid, and superconducting magnets. The advancements made by the scientists and engineers that comprise our technical community have enabled magnets to play a key role in fields as diverse as medical imaging, low-temperature physics, pharmaceutical R&D, high energy particle physics, and nuclear fusion projects such as ITER.

We look forward to your participation with the leading scientists and engineers in the field of magnet technology at MT-23.

Papers accepted after peer review will be published in the special issue of the IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, a leading scientific journal on magnet and superconducting technologies. Abstract submission will open mid November. Registration for the conference will open March, 2013. Please visit the MT-23 website at http://www.mt23.org for the most current updates.

A Scientific and Industrial Exhibition will be held in parallel with the Conference and will bring together research laboratories, institutions and industry that are active in magnet technology. Companies and research institutes will participate in this forum and display their activities and latest developments.
